Top 10 Best Christmas Day Games

1.Monopoly

Let’s get this one out of the way early. Monopoly is the definition of the Christmas Day board game. With enough pieces that everyone can play and (albeit fake) financial motivation, it really gets the energy going and in most cases makes for a great family experience.

Just try not to take it too seriously – we’ve all been there though.

2.Articulate

If you’re a chatty bunch Articulate is one of the Christmas Day games you should absolutely be playing. In this fast-paced game, players are given a set of cards with a series of objects and things that they have to describe without using the word itself, pointing or giving any other physical indications.

The pressure of the beeping timer which is included in the box only adds to the intensity and it will definitely get the old blood pumping when you take your turn that’s for sure. It’s actually really hard!

3.Cluedo

This classic ‘whodunnit’ game of detection and murder mystery is timeless and still a firm family favourite today.

Players complete alone or in teams using their powers of deduction and reasoning to work out who the mystery killer is, where they committed their crime and what weapon they used.

It’s a great way to get the family working together and talking on Christmas Day, plus you get to feel like a genius and super-sleuth when you win.

4.Cards Against Humanity

This game is not for the easily offended and inappropriate for children, but it’s brilliant for the rude and filthy-minded among us.

Players compete to complete a sentence and let’s just say the answers to choose from are a little … out there. It’s a really funny, close to the mark kind of game and I love getting it out at Christmas.

5.Pass The Sprout

Pass The Sprout is a really cute family game that I came across a few years ago by chance. Just like Pass the Parcel, you pass a sweet little tissue paper sprout around the table, revealing a layer each, which will contain a treat or a forfeit.

It’s your choice whether you do it to music or not. It’s just a great little Christmassy game to play after dinner.

6.Game For Fame

Players compete to complete a variety of challenges to acheive the ultimate goal of fame and fortune. This is definitely one for all those closet superstars out there.

7.Trivial Pursuit

Classic general knowledge board game Trivial Pursuit is one of the more traditional Christmas Day games. Players test their brain power as they attempt to answer questions from a selection of categories correctly and before other players.

There are so many editions of this game, you’re bound to find one that suits your family.

8.Headbanz

Headbanz is a great game anyway, let alone at Christmas time. A better version of ‘Who Am I’, players don a headband with a card depicting ‘something’ on it, and take it in turns to ask questions to try and deduce who or what it is. First to guess correctly is the winner.

Added bonus, everyone looks ridiculous with their bands on. It was a hit in our house.

9.Pictionary Air

Just like Articulate, Pictionary is a fast-paced drawing game. Players select a card and draw the ‘thing’ for their team to guess. Even better, the Air edition comes with a pen that draws in thin-air and transfers the image to your phone, so you don’t need to have a stock of paper in the house to play.

This is another game that will get the blood pumping and is great for the super-competitive – not so great for those who can’t draw for toffee.

10.Speak Out

This game is SO ridiculous it will have you rolling around on the floor with laughter. Speak Out is the fun game where players have to read sentences with the mouth pieces in that make everything sound like absolute nonsense.
